Medical Examiner

Hello, l am Philip Ranger and the AME who, together with my assistants, Annie and Nicole, operate Windmill Aviation Services. I work at Redhill Aerodrome (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and Whitstable, Kent (Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays). Our aim is to provide very thorough medicals in an efficient and professional manner but also in what we hope is a relaxed and friendly environment.

Medical Assistant

My name is Nicole, I've worked for Doctor Ranger since September 2014. I work mainly at Redhill Aerodrome on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Whitstable occasionally. My role involves: Audio's, ECG's, drugs & alcohol tests, taking blood pressure, eye colour and general eye tests. These tasks are important with sharing of new and existing pilots and various cabin crew.

Annie

Senior Medical Assistant

Hello, my name is Annie and I have worked with Dr Ranger since he took over the practice in April 2014. I am responsible for the administration, taking calls, keeping the website updated, managing emails and booking appointments. I have a diploma in AAT Level 4 accounting so also manage the books, PAYE and invoicing for the practice. I am also able to do ECG's and Audio tests.

There is now a barrier into the main car park. Once you have arrived at the barrier, press ‘3’ then ‘call’ and we can let you in. Once in, please do not park in red circled bays.

As many of you will know, Dr Shailey is working with me more now so that I can keep pace and see pilots at Whitstable, shortening the waiting time. She is a truly valued colleague and I know that any of you lucky enough to see her will enjoy and benefit from her knowledge and experience. Either of us are always happy for you to request one of us specifically though we feel very much a ‘team’ in the practice. She is also offering Class 1 and 3 CAA medicals! For purely operational reasons she is now practicing as Dr Shailey Vora.

UK PILOTS

March 29th 2021 – THIS WAS THE LAUNCH DATE FOR A NEW ON LINE MEDICAL SYSYTEM CALLED ‘CELLMA’ AFFECTING ALL PILOTS.

The only way of completing a medical will be to set up a ‘Portal’ with the CAA and then, after this, FILLING IN AN APPLICATION FORM and PAYING (Separate to making the appointment with us). You should have received an email from the CAA about setting up your portal but details can be found at www.caa.co.uk/medical. Please note, you should use Google Chrome and it can take up to (and maybe more than ) ten days. The I/D used to sign up must be brought to your medical and to repeat, the application form and payment (Class One £15.00, Class two £9.00) MUST be completed at home before I can do a medical.

NON UK LICENCE HOLDERS.

I am delighted to report that I am now an EASA medical examiner, you might say a MaltE(A)SA! The medicals are completed in good old fashioned pen and ink so you should complete (but not sign) an EASA application form and mental health form before attending if possible. You can find these under EASA in ‘forms for download’. Maltese registered pilots may be required to have a Drug and alcohol test at the medical so please make sure you will be clear. (You can do little about the drugs (!) but treat the alcohol at least as per flying).

All medicals are initially sent to Malta.
